ADAPTAFLEX INTRODUCES NEW TWO-PART FITTING FOR ITS RANGE OF NON-METALLIC FLEXIBLE CONDUIT SYSTEMS ADAPTAFLEX INTRODUCES NEW TWO-PART FITTING FOR ITS RANGE OF NON-METALLIC FLEXIBLE CONDUIT SYSTEMS
As part of its ongoing 'Xtra' campaign, Adaptaflex has introduced a new, highly versatile, two-part fitting and extended its extensive range of non-metallic flexible conduit systems for the protection of electrical wiring.
The result of an extensive on-going research and development programme, the fittings are now being offered on the Adaptaseal, Adaptaring and Xtraflex flexible conduit systems from Adaptaflex. The mew two-part fittings for Xtraflex conduits bring many benefits including faster installation times and a quick release facility without the need for tools. All three systems benefit from a new flat face sealing washer and a more extensive range of thread options.
"Our development work has totally redesigned these range of fittings to make them far more user-friendly and even quicker to install," explained Jonathan Burke of Adaptaflex. "In fact, with Xtraflex you can insert the flexible conduit into the fitting, which locks onto it. You then simply tighten the retaining nut."
Bringing in these extensive fitting changes has meant significant investment in new tooling which has in turn facilitated many new benefits including changing the sealing washer used within the fittings from a traditional 'O' ring. This is now a flat sealing washer which gives a better overall performance across the range, taking in applications where the mating hole is not well formed or to the correct tolerances.
The Adaptaseal liquid tight range is used predominately in external installations where there is a requirement for a high IP rating from IP66 up to IP68. These are now available with the new straight and 90º fittings, from 10mm through to 34mm, with fixed external thread, in an extensive range of new thread types, including NPT and PF, in addition to the metric and PG fittings currently on offer.
Similarly, the Adaptaring range, offering freely rotating swivel compression fittings for applications such as robotics and on indoor CCTV mounting heads, is similarly available with all the new NPT and PF thread options.
Finally, the Xtraflex PVC flexible system for applications where twisting or torsional forces are found also benefits from the new range of fittings. This becomes significantly easier to fit with the conduit inserted directly into the assembled fitting and the retaining nut simply tightened presenting speedier installation of the system. These fittings, available in both straight and 90º format, are in the popular size range from 12mm through to 32mm.
All three of these systems now have the additional option of swivel metal fittings, including all male and female thread varieties and the UNEF circular connector interfaces.
"The package introduced by this change is over 60 new products and will have a significant impact on the range and versatility that Adaptaflex products can offer the contractor and specifier. If you require an IP68 specification, yes, we have it along with all the independent test results for verification. As always, Adaptaflex is giving you that Xtra advantage when it come to selecting and installing flexible conduit systems," added Jonathan Burke.
These new fittings are one of the many new ranges included in the Adaptaflex 2002 New Products guide. For copies of the guide contact 01675 468 200. For further information on specific product combinations and part numbers, Adaptaflex's Technical Sales team can be contacted on 01675 468 202.
