ADAPTALOK FLEXIBLE CONDUIT SYSTEM TAKES TO THE WATER WITH IP68 RATINGADAPTALOK FLEXIBLE CONDUIT SYSTEM TAKES TO THE WATER WITH IP68 RATING
A new addition to the highly versatile Adaptalok flexible conduit system from Adaptaflex means that it can now be used to offer protection against the ingress of water to a depth of 1 metre, providing the possibility to upgrade from the standard IP66 ingress rating to IP68.
As part of the company's 'Xtra' campaign aimed at 'Raising the standards' in the market place, development of a high visibility, bright yellow conduit insert affords the system IP68 capability.
The Adaptalok non-metallic system offers so many benefits such as speed of installation, extensive range of fittings in addition to flame retardant, low smoke density and toxicity properties of Halogen free, low fire hazard materials.
The special insert fits on the end of the flexible conduit to form an additional seal prior to the installation of the fitting. When the Adaptalok fitting is positioned its internal taper closes down on the insert forming a water tight seal and the fitting's clips close on the corrugations of the conduit to securely retain it in place.
Manufactured in a thermoplastic elastomer, the high visibility, bright yellow insert is clearly visible once fitted, facilitating ease of inspection before final completion of an installation.
It can be used with the full range of Adaptalok fittings and is suitable for use on standard weight, non metallic Type PA/PR/PI flexible conduits from Adaptaflex in the following nominal conduit sizes and pitches: 16mm Fine, 21mm Fine & Coarse, 28mm, 34mm, 42mm and 54mm Coarse.
Because of its low profile, once fitted the insert does not appreciably reduce the cable carrying capability of the conduit.
The new inserts will be available in standard pack sizes, commensurate with pack sizes of the appropriate fittings. This will enable retrofit possibilities for existing installations, as well as a simple addition for new schemes. Popular fitting sizes and styles will be available later as a single part number, which comprises the fitting and insert in a single bag.
"The introduction of the highly visible insert affords Adaptalok IP68 capability which has been fully tested and ratified by an independent organisation," said Andy Elliot-Williams of Adaptaflex. "This capability will open up a number of new areas of use for Adaptalok where specifications demand higher ingress protection. IP68 represents the highest possible level of protection, which now results in Adaptalok truly being the best flexible conduit system for all applications." -ENDS-
