New Adaptalok ATS from Adaptaflex exceeds demanding vibration standards for rail equipment Already selected for use on major rail projects, the evolutionary new ‘Adaptalok ATS' system from Adaptaflex surpasses the most demanding requirements for use on rail vehicles and bogies, as well as trackside applications.
“In addition to its exceptional cable protection qualities ‘Adaptalok ATS' system has exceeded the requirements of long-life vibration testing required for Rail Standards,” explained Meirion Buck of Adaptaflex. “Vibration is one of the highest stresses experienced on rail equipment and can cause extreme damage to electrical components and cabling on rail vehicles. Fitting Adaptalok ATS prevents this costly damage.”
Adaptalok ATS was tested to the requirements of BS EN 61373 at the higher Class 2 vibration stress levels demanded for bogie use and easily passed these requirements. These fittings can therefore be used anywhere on the rail vehicle from the bogie upwards mounted in any axis to protect critical power and data cables. “These independent tests are a true mark of the systems resilience to vibrational stresses encountered on a daily basis in rail applications and confirm that ATS should be the first choice for rail applications,” added Meirion Buck.
‘Adaptalok ATS' fittings are available in a comprehensive range of industry sizes from 13mm to 54mm, including straights and elbows with fixed nylon or swivel metal threads used throughout the rail industry. UNEF adaptors, swivel panel mount flanges, swivel couplers and manifold boxes provide complete protection for all cabling needs within the carriage.
The innovative ‘Adaptalok ATS' fitting is the only one piece fitting to pass the vibration requirements and provides one of the highest ingress protection ratings to IP68 (4 bar). It can be installed with a simple push-twist-pull process without the need for tools ensuring that system performance and integrity are maintained. As a single piece fitting it reduces the total number of component parts to be specified and also significantly reduces stockholding levels.
The system, used in conjunction with Adaptaflex non-metallic conduit ranges, offers full low fire hazard capability, high impact resistance and low temperature flexing. Equally it is suitable for use on signalling, trackside and infrastructure applications to protect critical cable systems.
