Adaptalok ATS flexible conduit system achieves Lloyd's type approval for the marine industry Adaptalok ATS system recently introduced by Adaptaflex has achieved another major milestone in its evolution with the granting of Lloyd's Register Marine Type Approval across the complete range of what is the most advanced conduit system available on the market, today.
Used for the enclosure and protection of critical power and data cabling, and fibre optics, the flexible conduit systems are covered for use in marine, offshore and general applications under the Lloyd's listing for electrical equipment enclosure systems, Part 1B, Cert. 95/00092(E3).
“What this means for OEMs and installers across the marine industry is that the Adaptalok ATS range can be used in the knowledge that it has full Lloyd's type approval and no further testing need be carried out once it is installed,” explained Meirion Buck, Design and Applications Manager at Adaptaflex.
“The Type Approval process approves not only the product but the company and its quality procedures giving ship builders and specifiers total reassurance that the products meet all the arduous technical requirements of the mechanical, environmental and fire tests necessary. It is an unbiased, third-party verification of our company and product's conformity with the specifications and national and international standards and one that inspires confidence in use.”
On its introduction Adaptalok ATS changed the concept of conduit fittings and seals, which traditionally have always been produced separately, meaning longer assembly times and less efficiency, with the added danger of loosing important component parts.
The result of extensive, ground-breaking research and development, Adaptalok ATS is an innovative, one piece fitting that incorporates a high visibility elastomer seal and is produced by a sophisticated ‘twin shot' moulding process.
It achieves the highest possible ingress protection ratings by a simple push-twist-pull installation process, without the need for tools. This ensures that system performance and integrity are maintained, whilst at the same time offering a much quicker, more economical installation process.
Being a single piece fitting, there is absolutely no possibility of losing component parts and most importantly the integrity of the installation is assured. This is obviously vital as any lost component could potentially compromise a conduit system's sealing and integrity causing premature failure, critical in marine applications.
Suitable for a wide range of uses on work boats, ships, yachts, general marine, dockyard and offshore installations, there is a full range of fittings available including straights and elbows with nylon or swivel metal threads, in sizes from 13mm to 54mm, including a new 48mm fitting option.
The system offers full low fire hazard capability, high impact resistance and low temperature flexing. It is ideally suited for the protection of data cabling on essential control systems between the bridge and the engine room and similarly between the external navigation equipment and the bridge of a vessel.
Comprehensive information on the new ‘Adaptalok ATS' range is available through the company's distributors in over 40 countries worldwide and via the website, www.adaptaflex.com . -Ends-
