Several good reasons contribute to a record year As the market for flexible conduit systems grows, the range of potential applications has become both more varied and demanding. The wide range of products now available means that making the right selection is an increasingly complex decision.
With standards more onerous than ever before, the consequences of choosing the wrong product can at best be extremely expensive and at worst catastrophic. Adaptaflex is the UK's number one for flexible conduit systems. This position is maintained by consistently developing products that meet and exceed international standards. The products are approved to those standards by independent third party test houses. It is against this background that Adaptaflex develops a high level of engagement with their customers, taking the time to fully understand the applications and needs of each individual project. This level of customer commitment has seen further consolidation of its market leading position resulting in a record year for sales. In the UK, projects using Adaptaflex systems include: Wembley Stadium, St Pancras Station, Arsenal's Emirates Stadium and the new Terminal 5 building at Heathrow Airport, while internationally examples of projects can be found in China, Singapore, Germany, Dubai, Australia, Italy, the USA and Africa.
“Our commitment to third party product testing, in addition to our ongoing product development programme, means that we not only introduce innovative, operationally-proven products, but we continue to be market driven to meet the requirements of our customers,” explains Duncan McKinlay, Managing Director, Cable Management Products Limited.
Indeed, the company's commitment to independent testing across a wide range of applications has led to an impressive number of ‘firsts':
• The first and only conduit manufacturer to achieve the BSI Kitemark, originally to BS EN 50086. The company is still the only conduit manufacturer that has an accredited third party certification to the international conduit standard. • The first and only conduit manufacturer to achieve the BS EN ISO14001 Environmental Standard. • The first manufacturer to achieve the new IEC 616386 conduit standard covering the performance characteristics of flexible conduits. • The first to achieve Lloyds Register of shipping type approval for its non-metallic PR, PK and metallic LFH-SP and SPL products way back in 1995. • The first to meet IP69K, DIN 40050, standard with its Adaptalok range of non metallic fittings. • The first and only conduit manufacturer to offer a non-metallic conduit that is fully compliant to the new dual listed UL 1696 non-metallic tubing standard. Its new PADL range can be fitted with confidence to any equipment destined for export to the USA and Canada. • The company's Hi-Spec PK range, designed for the most demanding electrical applications in rail, underground and public buildings, is the only non-metallic flexible conduit system fully compliant both to the BS6583 Class 1A requirement and the LUL engineering standard 2-01001-002.
“We continue to provide our customers with a high level of technical and application support to aid product selection and we see this increasing still further via our field sales and technical support staff,” added Duncan McKinlay.
“This is backed-up by our literature which is designed to address product selection, while our website offers instant access to every product in the range, technical specifications and selection guides, in addition to detailed downloads enabling specifiers to import CAD images and data to aid specification.”
