Class 1A compliant flexible conduit systems

Adaptaflex has a range of ‘Hi-Spec', fully compliant BS6853 Class 1A non-metallic flexible conduit systems suited for the most demanding electrical applications in rail, underground and public buildings.

Known as Type PK, the conduit is manufactured from Polyketone, which offers a combination of strength, weight saving and super low fire hazard capability. It outperforms other non-metallic materials in terms of weight, high tensile strength and crush resistance while maintaining high flexibility and a high fatigue life.

Used to route and protect cables in extreme locations it has an operational temperature range of -60°C to +260°C, offering Super Low Fire Hazard (SLFH) properties, is halogen free and highly resistant to ultraviolet light. Used with the appropriate Adaptaflex PK and ‘Hi-Spec' Type A & B fittings, the systems offer ingress protection up to IP67.

Part of Adaptaflex's highly developed ‘Hi-Spec' range, the Type PK series of flexible conduits is available as a non-metallic flexible conduit manufactured from the specialist polymer compound, PEEK™. For applications requiring high EMI screening the Polyketone conduit is overbraided with a tinned copper sheath to become Type PKTC. When there are very extreme, harsh and demanding environments then PK can be overbraided with stainless steel to become Type PKSS and provide abuse resistance and high mechanical strength.

These conduits offer very high flexibility and meet the requirements of IEC61386, Adaptaflex being the first and only major conduit manufacturer to achieve third party accreditation from the British Standards Institution (BSI). This guarantees Adaptaflex products meet performance specifications for fatigue life, operating temperature, non-flame propagation, IP ratings, among other criteria.

Adaptaflex ‘Hi-Spec' flexible conduit systems are available in nominal conduit sizes of 13, 16, 21, 28 and 34 mm.

Further details on the Adaptaflex ‘Hi-Spec' range of flexible conduit systems is available from the company website, www.adaptaflex.com, or in the comprehensive Cable Management Solutions catalogue, available direct from Adaptaflex. Tel: 01675 468222 or email: marketing@adaptaflex.co.uk.
