Adaptaflex launch new rail products at Railtex 2007

Railtex 2007 - ExCel, London, 20 - 22 February

Adaptaflex Ltd   North Halls    Stand No. K44

Adaptaflex Ltd – the UK market leader in flexible conduit systems – is exhibiting over 20 systems suitable for rail applications alone at Railtex 2007.
The company has one of the most comprehensive ranges in the industry. It is also the first manufacturer in the world to have its products licenced under the BSI Kitemark scheme. The new standard, BS EN 61386, covers the performance characteristics of flexible conduit systems.

Showing at Railtex is the super low fire hazard Polyketone system, Type PK, the only BS6853 class 1A non-metallic flexible conduit available. The system offers high UV resistance, flexibility and fatigue life and is suitable for both static and flexing applications. It is also available with stainless steel or tinned copper overbraids for safety critical and harsh environments. Similarly, examples of the Type PR enhanced low fire hazard overbraided system will also be on show.

New at the exhibition is a non-metallic, flexible conduit system, Type CP, specifically developed by Adaptaflex for rail use. It is already finding favour with leading International locomotive and carriage builders. Utilising a special co-polymer material that combines the benefits of the existing PI and PR conduits it offers high flexibility, with a wide operating temperature range, Low Fire Hazard (LFH) capability and extremely low toxicity.

This makes it ideally for use either inside or beneath trains and carriages, as well as on public transport, light rail and tramway systems. An added advantage is that it facilitates the use of the extensive range of world renowned, one-piece, push and twist Adaptalok fittings, making installation both fast and effective, with IP66 ingress protection as standard. This can be increased to IP68 and IP69k by using the dedicated Adaptalok highly visible insert seal.

Adaptaflex has developed a number of dedicated flexible conduit systems suitable for the rail industry. These include both metallic and non-metallic systems, offering ingress protection from IP66, as standard, through to IP67, IP68 and IP69k. They provide the most suitable application solution, whether the use is on the locomotive, carriage, infrastructure project, trackside or safety critical system.

Again with low fire hazard capabilities and high flexibility, Types PA and PI are being increasingly used in rail applications. Particularly cost-effective is the  LFH-SP Adaptasteel, liquid resistant, metallic system with its enhanced low fire hazard capabilities.

All of the systems are comprehensively detailed in the new Adaptaflex Cable Management Solutions catalogue, available on request, either at the stand or via the Adaptaflex website, www.adaptaflex.com.
