Adaptaflex conduits achieve BSI Kitemark third party certification to new international standardAdaptaflex is the first flexible conduit manufacturer to achieve third party certification via the British Standards Institution making them compliant with the new International Standard for flexible conduits IEC 61386.
Superseding the current European flexible conduit systems standards, EN 50086, IEC 61386 covers performance requirements for use of the products in electrical installations. These include fatigue life, bend radius, operating temperature, non-flame propagation, IP ratings, impact resistance, pull-off strength etc. Adaptaflex now has the appropriate approval via BSI and the Kitemark scheme making it the first manufacturer whose products fully comply with the new standard as confirmed by independent third party certification.
“What this means is that customers can confidently specify Adaptaflex flexible conduit systems for a full range of appropriate applications in the full knowledge that they meet and have been approved to the new scheme,” explained Martyn Turner of Adaptaflex. “Other suppliers may only be self certified to the standard”.
Full implementation of the new standard will be phased in through the coming year, with the standard fully replacing EN 50086 by 2007.
